Resolution
on solidarity and support for the struggle of Iranian workers
June 4, 2022
Forty three years of the rule of the Islamic
Republic has created poverty and unemployment for the workers and labouring people of Iran. The skyrocketing inflation has
lowered the purchasing power of the Iranian masses. At the same time, the
authorities of the regime and their offspring’s have accumulated enormous
wealth.
Protests and strikes of workers, teachers,
pensioners, and other toilers in Iran have intensified particularly in the last
two months. The workers and poor strata of the society are in the streets,
expressing their demands for job, bread, and against layoffs and low wages. In
the past thirty years, the regime of the Islamic Republic has implemented the
neoliberal policies dictated by the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
This policy together with the criminal, unlimited, and intense economic
sanctions imposed by the U.S. imperialists on Iran have created a catastrophic
situation in Iran.
However, even in this very difficult situation,
the workers and wage earners of Iran have been continuously in the streets. The
very recent strikes in oil and chemical industries forced the regime to
partially retreat.
What Iranian workers are fighting for is
gaining their very basic rights; to increase their wages according to annual
inflation, to stop privatisation and closure of the
factories, to form independent trade unions in order to defend their livelihood
and to have collective bargaining. [In deed not only the workers, but the
several strata of the people, especially in the south and south east part of
Iran struggle against Iranian government.]
The theocratic regime of the Islamic Republic
brutally opposes the formation of any kind of independent workers’ organisations and prevents any possibility of unity of the
working class. The working class is aware that this demand has to be imposed on
the regime. The workers have no choice but to unite and show solidarity and
resist the capitalist exploitation. Any progress in Iran’s labour
movement increases the level of consciousness and self-confidence of the
workers.
The International Conference of
Marxist-Leninist Parties and Organisations (CIPOML)
expresses its solidarity with the struggles of the workers of Iran against the
closure of factories, for wage increases, for the payment of wage arrears and
for the right to form independent workers’ organisations.
And of course we underline that we support working class of Iran in their
social liberation movement as in theirs national liberation. We declare our
firm support to the workers of Iran who are struggling in exceptional
circumstances and we will use all our means to draw the attention of the
peoples of the world to this intolerable situation in Iran.
Long Live
the Struggle of the Workers and Peoples of Iran!
